NEW DELHI, December 11, 2014 – The Government of India and the World Bank today signed a $1.1 billion agreement towards the second loan for the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (a freight-only rail line) that will help faster and more efficient movement of raw materials and finished goods between the north and eastern parts of India. The project was approved by the World Bank Board on April 22, 2014.

Banco Mundial y GEF apoyan conservación de Amazonía colombiana y oportunidades para sus habitantes

Washington, 9 de diciembre de 2014—El Banco Mundial aprobó hoy una donación por US$10.4 millones del Fondo para el Medio Ambiente Mundial (GEF por sus siglas en ingles), con el fin de reducir la deforestación y conservar la biodiversidad en cerca de nueve millones de hectáreas (casi el tamaño de Hungría) en los departamentos de Caquetá y Guaviare del Amazonas colombiano. Los fondos se destinarán al Proyecto de conservación de bosques y sostenibilidad en el corazón de la Amazonía, cuyo objetivo es mejorar la gobernanza y promover actividades de uso sostenible del suelo.
